Firebirds hang tough but fall to champs, 59-37

The head coach of the Kirtland Community College mens basketball team praised his team after a home game at the McGregor Athletic Complex in Mio on Saturday, Jan. 3, despite the fact the host Firebirds lost to the Mott Community College Bears, 59-37.


Kirtland dominates Bears at home, 84-71

Five Firebirds scored in double digits as the Kirtland Community College womens basketball team dominated visiting Mott Community College for an 84-71 conference win at the McGregor Athletic Complex in Mio on Saturday, Jan. 3.


Solid effort by Firebirds falls short in 90-82 loss

The Kirtland Community College mens basketball team is finally getting healthy and that’s helping the struggling Firebirds get better. But host Owens Community College was still able to hold off Kirtland for a 90-82 non-conference win Tuesday, Dec. 30.


Lady Birds down another ranked team, 85-78

The Kirtland Community College womens basketball team claimed yet nationally ranked victim, as the Firebirds topped host Owens Community College, 85-78, in a non-conference clash south of the Michigan border Tuesday, Dec. 30.


Kirtland to offer two more classes online

Kirtland Community College will offer two business classes completely online for the first time during the upcoming 2009 winter semester that officially starts Saturday, Jan. 10.

Firebirds fall to host Monarchs, 85-68

Two members of the Kirtland Community College mens basketball team hit for more than 20 points Saturday, Dec. 20, but that wasn’t enough against the top team in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Eastern Division.


Macomb ends Lady Birds’ win streak at five

The Kirtland Community College womens basketball team had its five-game win streak end with a 72-71 loss to host Macomb Community College on Saturday, Dec. 20.


Auditions for ‘Our Town’ to be held at Kirtland

The Kirtland Community Theatre group will hold open auditions from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 29-30, and from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Kirtland Center for the Performing Arts for those interested in being cast in the April 2009 production of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, “Our Town.”

The Kirtland Community College mens basketball team couldn’t hang onto the ball and couldn’t defend its home floor at the McGregor Athletic Complex in Mio on Saturday, Dec. 13, falling to Wayne County Community College District, 86-73.
